Apostle Sarah A. Kelley

Sarah Ann Jackson Kelley was born on January 23,1941 in Charlottesville,VA. to the parents of the late Lafayette Jackson and Beatrice Jackson Brown. She and her husband, Deacon Raleigh C. Kelley Jr., are the parents of two children(a son Raleigh C. Kelley III(who is asleep in the Lord) and a daughter, Sarona Rea Kelley. They have three grandsons, Raleigh C. Kelley IV, Andrea L. She was taught about Jesus at an early age. Although she taught Sunday School from the age of 18 to 38 and directed the Gospel Choir at First Baptist Church, The Rev. Benjamin Bunn, Pastor, she did not know Jesus Christ. She was into church work, but not in Christ. The pianist for her choir, Min. Nehemiah Brown of the Holy Temple COGIC asked her the question, "What does it profit her to gain the world and lose her soul"? He also stated that "Without Jesus Christ in her life she was nothing". That question and statement caused her to acknowledge that something truly was missing in her life and that she was just religious without a relationship with Christ. A few months later, at the age of 38, she received Jesus Christ as her personal Savior when Overseer Lila Agee, Pastor of Pentecostal Assembly witnessed to her. Overseer Agee also prayed for deliverance from oppression and told her that she needed the Baptism in the Holy Ghost.

The Lord then led Pastor Kelley to Charlottesville Church of Christ Bibleway Worldwide, Bishop Rufus Hayes, Pastor. There, she was baptized in the Name of Jesus and received the Baptism in the Holy Ghost. In 1980 the Lord led her to Galilee Baptist Church, The Rev. Otis R. Spellman, Pastor, where she received her calling from the Lord to preach and teach His word. Galilee Baptist Church, where she is still a member, licensed her for ministry on January 23, 1983 and ordained her on June 16, 1984.

November 1985, Rev. Sarah A. Kelley was impressed in heart from God to begin a church in her home. God allowed her to know that the New Testament early churches were begun in that fashion. At first she procrastinated, but after a period of time she became obedient to the Spirit of Christ. Three times before initialing the church, she was suppose to visit with Pastor Dorothy Williams who had started a church in her home. In fact, Pastor Williams gave the church (FHL), their first offering towards the new church. At that time many ministries were coming out of Faith, Hope& Love. They are the Jail Ministry, Nursing Home Ministries, (Towers & Riverdale) and Crescent Hill which was to be reactivated in Janury, 1992. The Shepherd's Herald, a newsletter edited and published by Pastor Kelley and a Radio Ministry, WPES-AM, Ashland, VA. every Sunday at 3:30 PM., and the Homeless Ministry. At that time the Founder of the church, Pastor Kelley was attending Washington Saturday College, in Washington, DC. and was currently enrolled at Liberty, Lynchburg, VA. She attended Piedmont Community College, studying Religion and has taken various workshops to further benefit her in her field of ministry. She is a voluntary Chaplain for the University of Virginia, where she successfully completed the Chaplaincy program and soon to be a Police Chaplian. Rev. Kelley is also a Bible teacher, Conference speaker, teaches Women's Aglow, weekly and specializes in Workshops on Spiritual Warfare, Prayer and Evangelism. She was currently a member and Assistant to the Pastor of Galilee Baptist Church. She has traveled to Africa and the Holy Land. She soon went to Japan to do Mission work for the Lord and visit with her son Raleigh C. Kelley III, who was stationed there. When she was asked what she thought about pastoring she promptly stated that "pastoring is challenging, but it was a call from God".
